The
Haliyma Barrow Foundation is a New York based 501 (c)(3) non-profit
organization that seeks to break the generational cycle of teen pregnancy.
Through counseling, mentoring, sex education, tutoring, scholarships, library
services, career enhancement, entrepreneurial development, skilled trades and
day care services the Haliyma Barrow Foundation will work vigorously with teen
parents to help them develop healthy parenting skills, complete their
education, find good jobs, and work through emotional issues.
Due to the
need for more programs that address teen pregnancy from a holistic perspective
our organization developed a comprehensive array of services. Our counseling,
mentoring, and sex education programs will help teens overcome emotional
problems and develop the self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-respect needed
to stop the pattern of irresponsible behavior that led to pregnancy. These
programs, along with our educational and career development programs, will help
teens successfully attain their educational and career goals.
By offering teens a safe and nurturing place in which to learn, achieve, and
mature, our organization will help to prevent additional pregnancies. Also,
teen parents will be provided with a foundation on which they can grow into
successful adults capable of raising children who will avoid the pitfalls of
teen pregnancy, thus breaking the generational cycle of hopelessness,
underachievement, and delinquency.
